Are you the type of person that likes to do things on your own and explore the world by yourself, or is creating memories with friends more your style? Like everything else in life, there are pros and cons to each choice. So, if you are still not certain which type you are, maybe after reading this, things will become more clear.
1. Freedom or Support?
On your own
When you are travelling on your own, there is no need to compromise. Want to stay the whole day at the beach and not do anything else? Want to never step foot on the beach and simply explore the city? It all works, because your choices don’t depend on anyone else’s.
With friends
However, travelling with friends means you always have support. Getting lost (in terms of getting off on a wrong bus station, not actually lost) in a big city is much more comforting when you are with someone as it may even turn into something you just can’t stop laughing about.
2. Finding yourself or being stuck with someone else?
On your own
Being on your own in a strange land brings new kind of introspection which wouldn’t be possible if you are with anyone else. Finding new corners of the world may make you find corners within you, you were never aware of.
With friends
Sometimes going with a friend may not turn out to be so much fun as it sounds to be. This is especially true when you are travelling with someone for the first time. Often times, when you spend so much time with a person, do you truly see their flaws for the first time. So, this is something to have in mind when deciding with whom you will run of to a new adventure with.
3. Trapped or hugged?
On your own
Remember that introspection we mentioned? If it’s your first time travelling alone, you can turn out to be the worst companion you can take on your journey. You need to truly look inside yourself and answer this question ‘’Do I like spending time alone?’’ Don’t just do it, because your best friend has told you what an amazing trip to Prague she had on her own. Some people may feel trapped when they travel alone. Find out if you are one of those people before you buy a ticket to the unknown.
With friends
One of the greatest things about travelling with your best friend (or friends) is creating memories that will make your friendship even stronger. Stories like ‘’Remember that time we couldn’t find our hotel room and we accidentally went in someone else’s room and thought it was our own,’’ or ‘’ Remember that time you thought you were stung by a jellyfish and ran to the beach screaming and it turned out to be a plastic bag,’’ are the best stories a person might have in their life.
So, which type are you? The lone wolf or the one that loves to be with his pack? Whichever you are, make sure you are always having fun.
